1997-07-09 New chief minister in Sarawak?

Our old friend, Mr Rumour Monger, tells me that the federal energy, posts and telecoms minister, Dato' Leo Moggie, is tipped to succeed Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud as Sarawak chief minister. Dato' Leo, when asked by Mr Monger, who met him at the golf course recently, only said: "So, you have heard that, too!" The name is a surprise, on first hearing, to many for it did seem that Dato' Leo was content with remaining at the centre of things -- whatever that is -- in Kuala Lumpur. And Tan Sri Taib is in control. Or so it would seem. Nor does Mr Monger have any idea when this would take place.
