| 2002-03-09 | The Deputy Prime Minister Is Ashamed ... This is not in the home ministry alone. The defence
ministry assists the police over how military-issue ammunition
and guns got in the hands of a robbery gang. The minister, Dato'
Seri Najib Tun Razak, who is, like Dato' Seri Abdullah, a prime
minister-wannabe, says his ministry conducts its own
investigations "as it involved a former and current serving
member of the Armed Forces". Is he saying he would not have
bothered, if they were not involved? But the security leak is
serious.

| 2002-02-27 | The Singapore Tudung Affair Masks An Internal Conflict The Barisan Socialis shot itself in the foot, but while it is no
longer a political force, the Chinese-speaking community which
provided its base support has moved, for practical reasons, to
the PAP. But on its terms. The PAP, mindful of this and worried
at the same time that this group would work against it, vies for
its support by harping on emotive issues. It had a ready made
issue in the Malay leadership across the causeway fanning Malay
resistance in the republic. Early on, it had restricted Malays
from joining the Armed Forces and kept away from sensitive
positions because of their common race with the government across
the causeway.

| 2001-10-25 | Pigs Do Fly In ISA!!! The NA is not involved in hosting terror groups, the Taliban
is. Because the Taliban, with Armed Forces like Mr Osama bin
Laden and his Al-Qaeda group, the Pakistan "occupying force", and
receive "orders and instructions" from Pakistan "fanatics". The
Taliban, therefore, are "criminals in accordance with the
provisions of the Afghan criminal code (1974). Further, "they
have committed high treason and they would be tried and punished
"in due process of law inside Afghanistan." At least, Malaysia
at least knows why the Anglo-American aerial bombardment goes on
relentlessly: it is to ensure the Taliban is brought to justice
under the AFghan criminal code. Why then is the Pentagon and
Whitehall briefings ignore this important fact in their daily
briefings? What are Washington and London so queasy of bringing
into power these paragons of human rights and justice as the
Islamic state of Afghanistan claims it is?

| 2001-10-24 | Malaysia to buy heavy military tanks The Panhard medium light tanks the Malaysian Armed Forces
bought 30 years ago had to be scrapped because even they were not
designed for Malaysia's terrain. Even the Cadillac armoured
carriers for the police were all but useless in anti-communist
actions, the terrain too soft for them to be used with effect.
And now, Malaysia considers main battle tanks. In military
purchases, the kickbacks are high, especially so in Malaysia, and
that is why Malaysia is receptive to any huckster with some
military equipment to sell.
